'Manana' Anyone who has ever visited Monhegan Island, Maine will recognize the craggy rocks that are found on the small island across from Monhegan called Manana. The small island is now uninhabited but at one time a family did live on the island. It was said that they never owned the land but the man they called a hermit, built a rustic place and raised his family there. At one time there was a Coast Guard Station also on the island. Today visitors can explore Manana Island but there's not much to see but a lot of rocks and a few low lying trees. One of Mark's favorite subjects are the many different and interesting islands of Maine. Please visit us at our art gallery in New Harbor, Maine! |
