'Monhegan Island'

Anyone visiting Midcoast Maine has heard of Monhegan Island. Monhegan Island is 12 miles outside of Muscongus Bay and about a 45 minute ferry ride from New Harbor.  It is a very popular island and during the summer months thousands visit to get a glimpse and feel of island life. Monhegan Island is very quaint and about 75 people live there year round.  Many artists have flocked to Monhegan Island where is a paradise for painting subjects.  It's rugged coastline and untouched beauty has made it very popular to many visitors.  Monhegan Island has many cottages, a couple of Bed and Breakfasts, and 2 large Inns. There are no taxi's though so plan to do a lot of walking and hiking!  This painting shows the craggy coastline that draws so many artist to the island. Every day during the warmer parts of the year, you can find many an artist trying to capture the uniqueness of this island.
